There are so many different genres of music, you could pick any genre depending on the type of mood you are in. I am a man of many genres. I am a fan of most type of genres aside from the songs that there is just a man screaming into the microphone. I have tried to choose three songs that I am familiar with, and have each have different generes. The songs that I have chosen to analyze are "One Of Those Nights" Tim McGraw, "The Best Is Yet To Come" Hinder, and "Rest Of My Life" Ludacris.
This song is essentially telling you to go out and live your life to the fullest, find someone to share these moments of life, and remember the fact that you only live once. It is telling you to go out and make these memories you will always remember, and bring with you to the grave. It isn't your typical motivational song, but it kind of serves as motivation to live every minute as if it could be your last.
This song touches some on how you should learn from your mistakes. This song also, like "One Of Those Nights", somewhat is telling you to live your life to the fullest. This song encourages you to do whats on your mind and live with no regrets. It also is telling you to live in the present. It says you think you had it best when you were young and had no worries, but as you move along in life the best comes. If things aren't going well, stay positive and persevere.
This song expresses that everyone has their on reasons to do what they do. They have something to live for. It says things always could be worse, be thankful for what you have. It also, like the last two songs, expresses that you have one life and it should be lived to the fullest. The artists express how precious life is and how it should be lived to the best of your ability. The main point of this song I believe is that they are ready for life lessons, and will continue to learn things about life for the rest of their lives.
All of these songs attempt to give off their own way to express life lessons. I did not intend for all of my songs to give off these type of lessons, but thats what happened. All songs have different messages inside their lyrics but it just so happens it ended up that way, which makes it possible to make the assumption that many songs today try to give life lessons and motivation to do everything in your power to be someone. But as we all know, this isn't the case. Music has lyrics that send out all sorts of different messages. To some people songs like this help people get them up in the morning before a long day of work, studying, or sitting through a lecture. They express that no matter how things look now, to live life to the fullest because the grass is greener on the other side.

I absolutely agree with your last paragraph. I think each of us gets something different out of the music we choose to listen to.
ReplyDeleteI like how you compare three different types of artists, with different history, music, and lifes, yet, they fall into a culture with each other. Music is everywhere, and it connects with each person in different ways. You explained the connection with life and how we need to live our life to the fullest very well. It is clearly expressed in these songs and like you said, it motivates people for every part of their day. This connection to culture and communication is clear because the communication through music ties these beliefs together and shows that no matter who you are or what you represent, you can still connect through communication in various ways.
ReplyDeleteI liked that you choose to highlight a couple different artists and genres of music. Also, great inclusion of the videos.
ReplyDeleteI noticed that you referenced the text book at the end of your blog. Make sure that you include in text citations as well. You can use the text in your blog to introduce and define key terms.
